The Mars Desert Research Station
Explore a Martian Landscape in Southern Utah
When adventuring to the Martian landscapes within the Southern Utah desert make sure to fill your car up with gas. Hanksville, population 215, is a gas stop on the way to Lake Powell and the closest marker to this red desert scene. Within a mile or two outside of town along HWY 24 West there's a dirt road which may or may not be named Cow Dung Rd. A right turn heading North will take you further into the desert and closer to the red hills where the Mars Desert Research Station makes it's home. This spaceship capsule-looking station is private but the land around it for miles is worth exploring.
