It’s the details at The Mandarin Spa that make all the difference—the citrus scent of the shower, the softness of duvet on thre treatment table, the soft “clang” of the gong to mark the beginning of the session. I took part in the signature Imperial Jade Ritual, which included three parts: a Chinese-style massage, sesame and rice scrub with body mask, and a green tea and algae body mask.
My attentive masseuse Angel skillfully eased the tension in my shoulders, while the smell of the sesame seeds was intoxicating when used and the rice grains as a body exfoliant was just what my dry, winter skin needed. The body mask was cozy and helped flush toxins, but the highlight was the ginseng facial—I love the cooling sensation of the jade rollers, and was confident of its anti-aging superpowers.
Afterwards, I felt lighter and soothed, yin yang energies balanced, and floated to the tranquil Tea Room for some herbal tea and light snacks to reminisce about the blissful two-hour I’d just experienced.
