The Lambs Club, nestled in the landmark Chatwal Hotel a half-block from Times Square, boasts a swanky lounge feel with crimson leather banquets downstairs and a candy-red bar upstairs. Upstairs is where the seasoned bartender began concocting our drinks even before we knew what we wanted. Chalk it up to acquired skill or an expert hunch, but after an artful performance of measuring, marrying, and shaking, he delivered us applause-worthy showstoppers.
I was presented with the Lambs Cup (a rendition of Pimm’s fruit cup) with Plymouth gin, Bianco vermouth, St. Germain, muddled cucumber, citrus, and ginger, while my husband got the Gold Rush—a smooth concoction of Maker’s Mark, lemon, and honey anchored by a generous hand-cut ice cube.
It's hard to find a cocktail that lives up to an $18 price tag. But we successfully stumbled onto the best place for cocktails in New York City's Theater District. Here I would gladly fork over $1 for each and every expertly crafted sip. It was an absolutely perfect post-show finale, and a Broadway experience well worth the bill.
