The Hungry Pelican
113 Avenue C
A Uniquely Snohomish ExperienceWhen I discovered this little gem I had just come from breakfast at the First & Union bakery and had no room for more goodies. So, I had been looking forward to making a trip downtown just for the Hungry Pelican. In a town full of antiques, boutiques, and excellent restaurants you'll find that you can get a quick fix of all the above simply by visiting The Hungry Pelican which touts "Collectibles & Delectables." In the front room of the restaurant you'll find comfy seating among shelves full of attractive antiques and collectables; in the large back room you'll find a completely open kitchen surrounded by tables and a beautiful Snohomish Inspired mural. It's a unique and pleasing atmosphere. The food didn't disappoint either! Feeling daring, I ordered the Maple Egg & Bacon Waffle and was delighted. It was a perfect balance of flavors and paired nicely with the ultra fresh fruit on the side. My only uncertainty regarding this cafe is the coffee. Having only visited once I hesitate to criticize but I feel confident suggesting most of the other restaurants and cafes in the area for excellent and unlimited coffee. The Hungry Pelican only offers coffee by the cup, and it simply did not live up to my expectations. Eat at the HP, but get your coffee at one of the other local eateries.
