The Review:
History intertwines with modern art and design at this stylish boutique hotel inside two back-to-back historic buildings, one of which was an old bank. Agha Khan award-winning Turkish architect Han Tümertekin restored the buildings, ensuring that original grand features like marble staircases and fireplaces, intricately stenciled ceilings, ceramic tiles, and crown moldings, were all preserved. Interior designer Sinan Kafadar of the Metex Group was inspired by the banking past of the building, creating a reception that resembles a bank teller, placing framed bonds on the walls, and fashioning a gold lobby bar that recalls a bank vault. Plus, one of the four meeting rooms is housed inside the original vault. Guestrooms feature a palette of rich brown with green accents, high ceilings with stenciled designs, tall windows, Carrara marble bathrooms with rain shower, and long writing desks surrounded by original artwork. Elegant duplex suites have a lofted sleeping area with a spacious living room and kitchenette below.

An in-house curator, Zeynep Berik, former editor-in-chief of ICE Magazine, selected the art and collection of art books and is also tasked with organizing events and exhibitions throughout the hotel. The hotel has two restaurants: The lobby’s Kasa Lokanta, offering a seasonal menu of classic Turkish flavors with a modern twist, and the Kasa Roof Lounge, which boasts sweeping views of the Old City and Golden Horn. After a day of touring the bustling city, head to the hotel’s plush spa to enjoy a scrub in its classic, white marble Turkish Hammam, or spend time in the sauna, steam room, and fitness center. There are also three treatment rooms to book facial and massage treatments.
