Bold and Basic on Lee CircleThe hotel formerly known as the Hotel Le Cirque is now the Modern, a no-fuss hideaway from hotelier Klaus Ortlieb (of New York's Cooper Square and Gotham hotels). Pop-colored accent walls liven up the 135 renovated rooms, which are comfortable, if streamlined. The real draw though, is the hotel bar, Bellocq. Named for E.J. Bellocq, the photographer of turn-of-the-century madams, the lounge pairs a sultry decor inspired by the Storyville brothels with 19th century cocktails.
