I'm a guy that loves to take long walks and hikes. I first learned of the High Line flipping through the pages of a Details Magazine. When I visited my sister, brother-in-law and their two kids in Brooklyn for a weekend back in April 2012, I knew I had to capitalize on the opportunity. On a Monday afternoon, we did just that.
I was blown away. Only in existence since 2009, the park is an impressive urban oasis and a testament to the city's efforts in urban renewal! Sitting on a former rail line dating back to the 1930's stretching for about 30 blocks from Gansevoort Street to West 34th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, relish in the fantastic views of both West Side Manhattan on one and the Hudson River and New Jersey on the other. Be sure to take notice of the Frank Gehry IAC building and if you need a break, hit the 23rd Street Lawn and Seating Steps.
After walking the entire length back and forth, reward yourself with some awesome sandwiches at Friedman's Lunch inside Chelsea Market.
