The Gallery Restaurant
The Gallery RestaurantReykjavík’s Gallery restaurant, in the city’s famed four-star boutique hotel, Hotel Holt, is named for the hotel's unique decor. The walls are adorned with paintings by some of Iceland’s most famous artists, courtesy of the owner’s private collection. The chef here, Friðgeir Ingi Eiríksson, has spent time polishing his skills in Michelin-starred restaurants in France, among other places, and the internationally minded cuisine—which ranges from miso-glazed cod to homemade tagliatelle—is every bit as elegant and formal as the hotel itself. The wine cellar contains around 4,000 bottles of vintage wine, and the sophisticated bar next to the restaurant stocks an excellent selection of cognacs and single malt whiskeys, making it a fine spot to indulge in an aperitif or digestif.
