With all the buzz surrounding some of Brooklyn’s trendiest neighborhoods like Williamsburg and Bushwick, you could easily build an entire weekend itinerary upon the offerings on the other side of the bridge. But if you want a quick taste of the vibe, look no further than the newly opened wine bar and eatery, Four Horsemen, whose owner is LCD Soundsystem frontman, James Murphy. Focusing on small plates, Four Horsemen’s menu runs the gamut of charcuterie and cheese boards, beef tartare, beets with shishito peppers and smoked pecans, and olive oil-poached tuna. Larger courses, like Wagyu chuck steak, are also available, but ultimately it’s the restaurant’s cozy nature and straight-forward menu, devoid of all snobbery, that’s made it an instant success. If you can, call in advance to book a table as the restaurant only fits 30 diners at a time, 20 seats of which are reserved for advanced reservations. Bonus: You’ll be close to the East River waterfront, so arrive to DUMBO half an hour early for a stroll and stunning view of the glittering Manhattan skyline.
