The Curaçao Ostrich Farm

Weg Naar groot St. Joris z/n Willemstad, Curacao, Curaçao

If you’re looking to get away from the beautiful beaches for an afternoon, then be sure to include the Curacao Ostrich Farm in your travel plans. Originally started by expats from Namibia, today the Ostrich farm is one of the top tourist sites on Curacao. At the farm ostriches are raised as an alternative meat source and as an attraction in their own right. Every hour a safari truck takes guests around the farm where they can see, touch and feed these beautiful birds and learn more about them in the process. Along the way you’ll also see emus, crocodiles and a few pot-bellied pigs. Afterwards be sure to eat at the farm’s restaurant for a classic African style lunch.

Mike: Feeding the friendly ostriches in Curacao

My husband, Mike, and I were recently married two years ago and couldn’t decide on a place for our honeymoon. He came across Curacao when he was researching places and we quickly decided that this was the ultimate destination for our honeymoon! We were quickly attracted to the culture, beaches and other tourist attractions from the Hato Caves to the Ostrich Farm. Once there we were greeted by the warm Caribbean weather and friendly faces. We explored Willemstad, shopping and seeing iguanas sunbathing in the greenery by the ocean. Here is a picture of my husband that I personally took at the Ostrich Farm. The Ostrich Farm was on our must see list and we each enjoyed feeding them. They were fun to photograph too. We instantly fell in love with Curacao and would love to return. Pick us to have our 2nd honeymoon in Curacao as we still desire to explore more of the Island! :)

Beware of Ostrich!

The Ostrich Farm was surprisingly some of the most fun I had in 6 months of living in Curacao. This short tour is packed with interesting trivia on this (apparently quite stupid) large bird. They will even let you feed them, but beware! The hand puppets look-a-likes are quite feisty.
