It's about this time of year, when the temperature stays above 65 even at night, that I start craving a double scoop cone. As long as I can remember, The Chocolate Moose has been my family's go to ice cream joint. It's not unusual for the line to snake all the way through the parking lot at this little takeaway shop.
The vegan ice cream is divisive. I quite enjoy the strawberry variety, made with coconut milk, but my sister thinks it tastes like suntan lotion. In any case, go with one of the homemade varieties. Proven winners - moose chocolate (pictured here,) grasshopper (mint and oreo!) and cinnamon. All are great on a cone and divine blended into a, spoon-required, milkshake.
