The Benson Hotel, Portland: An Elegant Vintage Hotel.
Like a grand old wine and despite its age, The Benson, a Coast hotel, is still one of Portland's best hotels and certainly something not to miss if you like to see the real Portland. Fans of Downton Abbey will love it as it is period correct.
While old (built in 1913), The Benson still has all it wonderful charms from yesterday which never age. High ceilings and wonderful woodwork are things you just don’t find in modern hotels. The hotel has style and elegance which even the youngest generations will appreciate. This is especially true while staying there to have a bar and restaurant from another era so conveniently close.
The 450 sq. ft. executive junior suite with its awesome views of the city and the amazingly comfortable bed is spacious and accommodating, the ideal place to catch up with work if you travel on business. Staff is friendly, responsive and attentive to detail.
But for me the best part of The Benson is its location, just blocks from Powell’s bookstore, downtown shopping, food trucks, and even the local city Target.
In short, if you want to experience a classic hotel in one of the best locations in Portland, then there is only The Benson. Nothing comes close.
