Swim With Whale Sharks in Baja California Sur
It's no wonder that Jacques Cousteau referred to Baja's marine-rich waters as the "aquarium of the world." With some of the best spots on the planet to see marine wildlife, one of these experiences is provided by Fun Baja, an adventure travel company based out of La Paz, who offers the opportunity to swim alongside whale sharks in the bay of La Paz. Nature's gentle giants, these fish can measure over 40 feet long and weigh over 20 tons. They are filter feeders, feeding mainly on plankton, and they fill the waters off the coast of La Paz. Planes overhead spot these giants in the crystal clear waters, and once the boat draws near, you hop in the water donning full snorkel gear. Soon, you are in a complete state of awe, as you swim next to this massive, peaceful creature that holds records for its enormous size within the animal kingdom.
