In 1980, after having one leg amputated due to a form of cancer, Canadian athlete and humanitarian Terry Fox embarked on a cross-Canada run called the Marathon of Hope. The goal was to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. Although Fox passed away before he could complete the trek, his efforts had a lasting legacy, and the Terry Fox Run continues still.
