Hiking the Coast
The best part about Los Angeles is the easy accessibility to nature. Coastal hikes overlooking the ocean are the best way to cleanse the mind and body and truly experience the landscape. The hills of Malibu to the North and Palos Verdes to the South have some of the best hiking trails in SoCal. Temescal Canyon is a steep but short jaunt to the top and Topanga Canyon takes you to Eagle Rock that juts over the canyon like Pride Rock in The Lion King. The rock-climbing hub of Malibu Creek State Park also has trails to Sandstone Peak, the highest summit in the Santa Monica Mountains. Escondido Falls trail ends at a glistening moss-covered waterfall that you can scramble up and at Circle X Ranch you stumble upon ruins of an old mansion.
