Tecolote Book Shop
The name Tecolote hails from the Aztec language of 'Náhuatl,' which translates to Owl. Throughout Western mythology, owls are often associated with books and wisdom. The Tecolote Book Shop was born out of the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake and has served the community for five generations.

To call it a local gem would be an understatement. Its staff are superbly knowledgeable and love a good hunt: if you're searching for an out-of-print book or the perfect best-seller, magazine, audio book, stationary, journal, calendar, game or puzzle, Tecolote is your place. Everything about the book shop, from its wood worn chairs to its slump stone exterior, nods to a bygone era where reading a book lounging by a fire was the norm.
