A Night at the TheaterAs home of the University of Guanajuato, the city has a rich cultural life. The Festival Internacional Cervantino held over two weeks every October is a showcase for artists from throughout the Spanish-speaking world working in a variety of disciplines—dance, film, literature, and more. Even if you don’t visit during the festival, you can enjoy the culture of Guanajuato by seeing a movie at the Cine Club, which features international and art-house films you may not have the chance to see at home. The elegant Teatro Juarez, inaugurated in 1903, is one of Guanajuato’s most famous landmarks with its neoclassical exterior and over-the-top Moorish revival interior. The theater has a busy schedule of musical performances. Even if you don’t attend a concert there, you should make time to visit it on a self-guided tour during the day.
