THE place for the Freshest Oysters in SeattleSeattle has many fine spots for good oysters. Our go-to, every time, spot is Taylor Shellfish Farms' Melrose Market on Melrose in Seattle.
A large "sink" with multiple bins of oysters, clams, and geoduck sits in the middle of the room. Cold clean water rushes over the shellfish keeping them icy cold and oh so fresh.
We sit and order a sampling of whatever is available that day. We are never disappointed and enjoy new varieties each visit. In addition to being delicious and fresh, the price is the best in Seattle by far.
Chowder, fish stews, and seafood salads are also available. But frankly we never get past the oysters. We just keep ordering more until we're ready to pop.

Oysters By the Dozen
Taylor Shellfish Farms’ first storefront, inside the Melrose Market food hall, is a casual open-air seafood bar between busy downtown and colorful Capitol Hill — perfect for people-watching on a sunny summer afternoon. Order up a platter of oysters to share, sample the smoked salmon platter, or try the geoduck sashimi, a local clam with a sweet and mild flavor. Wash it down with some locally brewed Pike Place or Elysian Ale, or the tart, crisp sparkle of Rachel’s Ginger Beer. Happy hour runs from 2-4 p.m. Mon-Fri, so oyster lovers should show up early (and hungry).
