Jiaosi is about an hour's bus ride from Taipei and makes for an easy day trip, but one could certainly spend more time here.
The area is known for its numerous natural hot springs and nature trails, of which you should take full advantage. But perhaps one of the most unique experiences is had by spending some time with your feet in a 'fish spa'.
These little workers nibble away and leave your feet (or anything else you submerge?) surprisingly soft and smooth -- better than a pedicure, if you can stand the feeling of being gently eaten alive. And although Jiaosi is not the only place in the world with such an attraction, Tāngwéigōu Hot Springs Park's fish spa is outdoors next to a stage where live music is often played and local beers are on tap.
The merely curious can take a peek and then dip their feet in the regular hot springs foot bathing pools throughout the rest of the park.
