Handmade Paper in San Cristobal
Taller Lenateros is a small workshop employing about twenty people full time. They make paper with new and recycled fibers, flowers and natural dyes, and even use recycled broken CDs embedded in paper for shiny book covers. They print blank books, art and children's books, some have molded covers with human and jaguar faces. In the paper room you can purchase large sheets of multicolored paper with bits of flowers and herbs embedded. The shop is open weekdays and the manager is often willing to give an impromptu tour of the paper making process in the back. The taller is a bit of a hike from Centro, but they also have a retail shop on the Andador de Guadalupe.
