Portuguese Splendor In Macau, China
Many Chinese and other tourists visit Macao to visit the casinos, but there is so much beautiful Portuguese colonial architecture. You will see some of it in the main square, Largo Do Senado, but you must go further afield for hidden treasures. Insiders tip: find your way down to Taipa, home of the Taipa Houses Museum. These colonial residences were restored to recreate houses of well-off Portuguese families living in Macau during the first half of the 20th century.
