Tainan Confucius Temple
Taiwan's Most Revered Historical Site: The Tainan Confucius Temple
This historical site was Taiwan's first academy, built in 1655, for the purpose of continuing classical Chinese teachings and training civil servants on the island, which was at political odds with Mainland China. The building is prized for it's beauty and obvious age. The grounds are a popular spot for elderly Taiwanese to practice Tai Chi in the early mornings and is a must see for any visitor to the city.
