Swimming with Dolphins
Go beyond whale-watching and snorkeling and get in the water with wild dolphins in their natural habitat. Akaroa is the only place you can see and swim with a Hector's dolphin, a member of the smallest and rarest species of the marine mammal. Akaroa Harbour is in a sheltered volcano crater, so waters are calm; all equipment and wet suits are provided. The full experience, including orientation and a post-swim shower, takes about 2.5 to 3 hours.
