The old country looks new
We visited Swidnica, Poland in May 2013 as an overnight trip from Prague. My wife's mother and grandmother were born there and while the family left shortly after WWII, it has some family history. We also were curious to see what life is like in Poland and came away impressed. The countryside is very pretty and fields and farms looked well cared-for. Swidnica is a large town and though it's businesses seem to struggle, buildings on this large square and other public spaces are pretty and nicely maintained. Hopefully more tourists will discover this very welcoming country where at least for now the dollar goes far.
