Turbans, Thalis, Taro and Textiles
With just short amount of time to experience Jaipur on my way through to the Pushkar Mela, I wanted to experience as much as possible in a short amount of time. I would typically prefer a more slow and organic exploration of a new city, but time doesn't always allow for that. After a morning at the Amer Fort, we stopped here for lunch on the way back to town. Over a lunch of traditional North Indian thalis, had our taro cards read, watched a puppet show, a turban tying demonstration and shopped bangles. After lunch we toured the adjoining turban museum, block printing, rug weaving and textiles company store. Expect a hard sell to get out of the store, but enjoy the demonstrations knowing it is all part of the sales experience.
