Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary

Early Risers Unite at Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary
Rise and shine! The best time to observe the over 250 species of birds at Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is around 6 a.m., when the migratory birds leave the nests. (Ask your hotel to pack a breakfast, and enjoy a picnic in the park.)

Declared a national park in 1989, Sultanpur is easily accessible from Delhi/Gurgaon and worth the visit—even for non-avid bird watchers.

It takes approximately 1.5 hours to walk the sanctuary. Take advantage of the four watch towers for best viewing of the wildlife, including White-throated Kingfisher, Spot-billed Duck, Painted Stork, and Purple Sunbird.

The best time to visit is October–March when migratory birds visit from Europe, Siberia, Afghanistan, and beyond.

Note: Closed on Tuesdays.
