Stones Café B.V.

Warmoesstraat 96, 1012 HZ Amsterdam, Netherlands

“We Rock the Planet,” say the folks at Stone’s, a beer pub on Warmoesstraat established in 1994 by two Dutchies and a trio of Brits. Sandwiched between gay cinemas, adult toy boutiques and fast food joints, it’s the dive bar you’re looking for if you like ice-cold beer, attractive baristas and flat screens broadcasting live sports. If you’ve come on the night of a big game, the place will be packed with locals and tourists swilling pints of Heineken, and a pool table may appear if the home team starts taking a beating. Whatever happens, the time will always be 9:30 or 21:30, depending on how you read the stopped clock. In the morning, a full English breakfast is available. There’s no telling what to expect at Stone’s, especially since its second violation of the ban on smoking tobacco inside bars. While you can still smoke anything you want on the rear patio, only joints rolled with 100% marijuana are allowed at the inside bar. Outside, enjoy the view of hands-on fun in a stretch of the Red Light District on the Oudekerkplein. While you and your mates swill beer and smoke joints, watch ladies of the night negotiate with customers in neighboring cabins.
