As a zoo aficionado, I thoroughly enjoyed the enormous zoological park in Asheboro, NC. It covers 500 acres of natural woodlands, with large meadows for grazing animals like zebras, elk, buffalo, and elephants. Half the zoo is devoted to Africa, the other half to the Americas, with plans to expand and include animals from other continents. Over 200 species are currently represented in natural settings. The park has trams to take visitors around, or walking is another option. There are plenty of refreshment stands where you can quench your thirst and shops that sell jewelry and souvenirs in the shape of the different animals.
