State Library of Victoria

328 Swanston St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia

This is a Melbourne landmark, where students make use of the free Wi-Fi, and locals picnic on the green lawns overlooking Swanston Street. It’s also a great way to spend a few hours, exploring the heritage interiors of the 19th-century building and browsing the enormous collection of books and other items that reflect Victoria’s cultural and social heritage. Make sure you go up to the balconies encircling the beautiful domed Reading Room that have been transformed into exhibition spaces. Free guided tours are available.
