Dragon boat festival, known in Cantonese as “Tuen Ng” Festival, takes place on the 5th day of the 5th month of the Chinese lunar month, known as “double fifth” which is around mid-June. There’s an actual holiday for this sport to celebrate the memory of a loyal poet from Chinese history. Teams train hard for what they deem as the biggest competition of the year, drawing out international and local teams. It is a fantastic event full of people drinking, cheering, racing, and eating traditional rice dumplings. It’s a spectacular day to take part in by racing or simply witnessing the fun.
