The stand-up paddleboarding
trend has arrived in Telluride
and, on a warm summer day, there’s perhaps no better way to cool off than paddling in one of the area’s high alpine lakes. There’s no shortage of lakes surrounded by pines and peaks—Alta Lakes (a series of three lakes on the backside of the Telluride Ski Resort), Trout Lake, Priest Lake, and others. For a different experience, you can also travel along the slow-moving San Miguel River, which runs along Telluride’s valley floor. A number of outfitters in Telluride rent boards and offer classes as well. Before long you’ll be paddling like a pro.
