St Pete locals and visitors wander the stalls of the Saturday Morning Market in the shadow of old Al Lang Field and the Municipal Marina. Fresh honeys, jams, breads, eggs, organic vegetables and fruits, pineapple (peeled and cored while you wait) and more find their way into shoppers bags. Fresh squeezed juices, Cuban sandwiches, pork sandwiches, Indian Curries, tacos and more are available for the hungry. Talented artists and artisans display their creations. Musicians perform all throughout the day with seating available to watch and listen.
St Pete is a dog-friendly, dog-loving town and anyone with a well-mannered pooch is invited to bring their dog to the market. On leashes or in strollers, there are dogs of every shape, size and breed. So for those of us who find ourselves temporarily without a dog, the market provides us with a temporary reprieve from dogless-ness.
It runs every Saturday morning from May to October. In the hot summer months, when farm production is down and the pavement heats up, a smaller version of the market is located in shaded, Williams Park, in downtown St Petersburg.
