St. Kilda Little Penguins
If you want to see some little penguins but can’t face the four-hour roundtrip to Phillip Island, head to the St. Kilda breakwater instead, where you’ll find a small colony of the adorable birds. Each evening, just after sunset, the resident penguins return from their day fishing at sea and waddle back to their nests amid the rocks of the breakwater. Volunteers from Earthcare St. Kilda Inc. are always on hand to answer questions, and you’re welcome to snap some photos—just remember to turn off your flash and keep your selfie stick well away from the penguins and their nests.
