In the Market for Artisan Foods
St. George's Market, a sprawling indoor space within a 19th-century brick building, is not just about foodstuffs. Arts, crafts, and music are big parts of the scene. But spend a few hours there on a Friday or Saturday, especially, and you can stock up on cheeses, meats, fish, coffee, teas, fruits and vegetables, and some of the most amazing breads and pastries you'll find anywhere. After sampling the wares, including the soda breads and Fifteens (made with 15 digestive biscuits, 15 marshmallows, and 15 glacé cherries; offered by Allen, pictured), you might not need lunch or dinner.
