St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral

Bishop St, The Lough, Cork, Ireland

One of Cork’s most iconic sights is the trio of elegant spires topping St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral, which can be seen from all over the city. Built in the 19th century for the Anglican Church on the reputed spot where Fin Barre established a monastery in the 7th century, it was designed by the London-based William Burges, one of the most highly regarded architects of the Victorian period. The interior flaunts elaborate floor mosaics and some of the finest stained-glass windows in all of Ireland.
