San Francisco's 1899 Bandshell Offers Free Music
A vital civic and cultural space within Golden Gate Park, the Bandshell, known as the Spreckles Temple of Music, hosts free concerts on Sundays during the summer and serves as a picnic spot year-round for visitors to the nearby cultural facilities of de Young Museum and California Academy of Sciences. Past free concerts have included The Grateful Dead, Luciano Pavarotti, the SF Symphony and others. On any day, you'll find residents practicing tai chi, families relaxing, and tourists enjoying a break from sightseeing.
