Playful activities in the Alps have a funny way of transforming adults into carefree children, none more so than flying down a mountain on a sled. While Switzerland
provide ample terrain for sledding, Spitzingsee, in the Bavarian Alps, features prime backcountry for high-speed adventure. Here, guests must walk for three hours to a secluded hut called the Rotwandhaus, which serves as the starting point for a three-mile sledding run. The trail has a few heart-stopping moments, but it’s easy enough for beginners, children, and, of course, their flailing parents.
