"Dallas" CowboySouthfork Ranch became famous when it was chosen to serve as the Ewing family home in 1978, back when the original Dallas TV series took the world by storm. J.R., Sue Ellen, Miss Ellie, and Bobby brought Southfork into our living rooms, but the family that was actually living at the real house couldn't deal with the burgeoning tourism scene, and ultimately moved out. They wisely turned Southfork into a venue that has become one of Dallas's major tourist attractions, as well as a popular meeting space. Visitors are bused in daily from downtown Dallas (the location is north of the city) to relive the show's 1980s glory days and check out memorabilia like Jock Ewing's 1978 Lincoln Continental and, of course, the gun that shot J.R.
