At last, I managed to get away for my long awaited summer holiday in Makarska. The private house was amazing. In addition to the basic incentives like showers and room service, this place had a great outdoor swimming pool where we could take a dip whenever we wanted. And, since it's located in the heart of the region, we had a great view of the tree-lined beaches, as well as the entire landscape of Makarska. It was exhilarating looking up at the mountain of Bikovo from below.
Our first destination to see was the malacological museum in the deep of the Franciscan monastery. We didn't know where to start our forays into this huge edifice, but we got the hang of what other tourists were doing and soon enough got a hold in the lay of the land. We were simply blown away by the unique collections from different areas, all from the sea and the Adriatic. The literal chronology itself was something out of the perfect database.
Botanical garden is a must, fondly tagged as 'Kositina' by the locals. Here, we sampled over 300 unique plant species as well as herbs. On our way out, the beauty of several castle fortifications right at the gate regaled us. The staff here told us that the walls are from the 17th century. Impressive, to say the least.
