If you are in Chicago and have a hankering for some great sushi, you have a ton of choices at your fingertips. I'm just gonna tell you about one, or maybe two. Located in Bucktown is Coast Sushi, which is BYOB, difficult to get into, but always worth the wait if you plan ahead and are in the mood. However, the little known secret is that there is another 'coast' in town that is as good, or in my opinion, even better than its Bucktown brethren. The little gem I speak of is appropriately named South Coast Sushi because it's located in Chicago's South Loop area. Yes, it's a bit farther away from the scene, but totally worth the trip. For starters, you can almost always get in on short notice, there is free parking across the street, the vibe is fantastic (think restaurant/lounge/sushi place), and the prices are lower than in the downtown location. Oh, and the sushi is better here too. There are always specials on the menu, and you can sit at the bar and watch the 'food artists' create your meal as you sip on some choice saki. Quick local tip: order the White Dragon roll, you can thank me later.
