SONNENALP HOTEL OFFERS NEW SKI SAFARI AND TRADITIONAL BAVARIAN EXPERIENCES
Looking to one-up typical mountain traditions? Bavarian-inspired Sonnenalp hotel is offering a new Ski Safari experience that gives guests the opportunity to ski and ride some of Colorado’s top resorts in three days, all while being guided by two of the world’s best skiers: Olympian Sarah Schleper and pro skier Chris Anthony. This winter is the perfect time to take advantage of the mountain’s energy, and all of the festivities the Vail Valley has to offer.
The Sonnenalp will play host to the German ski team during the 2015 FIS Alpine World Championships. The German House, based in Sonnenalp’s Bully Ranch will serve as the central hub of activity and celebration for the team, including daily meals. Guests may get a taste of a true alpine dining experience and clink steins with the world's best German skiers. Prost!
When Karlheinz Faessler, a former member of the German ski team himself, fell in love with Vail and opened Sonnenalp in 1979, he brought the cozy and spectacular Bavarian setting with him. Guests of Sonnenalp are transported back nearly a century to Ofterschwang, Bavaria, where, in a simple ranch house, the Faessler Family opened a hotel that epitomized the finest in personalized service in beautiful surroundings. The Sonnenalp that stands today has evolved through four generations of Faesslar family hospitality, and fosters a true sense of timelessness in Vail.
