Solis Two Porsche Drive–A Hotel for the Senses

A layover in Atlanta, or a weekend, has gotten very exciting with the addition of a hot new landmark: Solis Two Porsche Drive, a stylish hotel right next to the Porsche Experience Center, overlooking the handling track.

Solis Two Porsche Drive is the first hotel to open on the east side of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport since the new international terminal was build. In an interesting twist, it is located on the site of a former Ford factory, which operated 1947 to 2006.

Due to a delayed flight, I arrived close to midnight. Porsche’s most recent addition to their fleet–a Panamera–was waiting at the curb to whisk me to the hotel. Once there, I quickly settled into my suite, which, as I was to discover early next morning, overlooks the Porsche track. Vrrrm! Vrrrm!

Even if you’re not into motorsports, Solis Two Porsche Drive is a great option to keep in mind if you’re catching an early flight, or connecting internationally in Atlanta. They have well-designed, comfortable rooms (great beds!), a gym, an indoor pool, and great food options...all the creature comforts I’m looking for, when I’m on the road.

Up on top, you'll find the Overdrive Lounge, which is architecturally quite breathtaking. It occupies an impressive rooftop space, and is a great place to view the talented (or, not so talented ;) drivers on the Porsche track below. If you’re into it, you can also do your fair share of plane spotting, while sipping on delicious cocktails, or nibbling on ‘light’ and, fair warning, 'addictive' bites such as the sriracha pimiento cheese beignets with green goddess dipping sauce. Check out Overdrive’s Happy Hour, every Thursday from 5-8pm.

Apron, located on the ground floor of Solis Two Porsche Drive, serves up Mediterranean inspired fare under executive chef Chef Derrick Green. A great selection of international wines, and local craft beers can be found on the beverage menu. I ate my way through an amazing octopus dish, flavorful bits and pieces on and of the menu (thanks so much, chef!), and last but not least, the pièce de résistance, house made bucatini carbonara. I’m just glad this happened AFTER the test drive next door!!!

A warm thank you to Solis Two Porsche Drive (Instagram: @solis2porschedr, Facebook: @SolisTwoPorscheDrive) and the Porsche Experience Center (Instagram: pecatl, Facebook:@PECAtlanta #pecatl) for the most fun I've had in a while!!!
