Snorkeling at the Reef
Six different lagoon clusters off of Nouméa have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In all, more than 9,300 varieties of reef fish and other sea life have been found on the island's reef, making it one of the most diverse ecologies on earth. You can see a lot of it with no more equipment than a snorkel, some sunscreen and an excursion on one of the local double-hull canoes.
