From the Skyrail Terminal just north of Cairns, the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway has six-person cable cars which take travelers on a jaw-dropping eight-kilometer (five-mile) ride above World Heritage–listed rain forest to the highland village of Kuranda. At two stations on the journey—Red Peak and Barron Falls—you can hop off and explore the rain forest on marked walkways. A variety of packages include options to take the Scenic Railway to Kuranda and the cable car on the return trip, as well as others that feature visits to the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park.
