You’ll find almost any food you like in Gothenburg, but if you are looking for a taste of classic Swedish cuisine with a west coast twist, the Sjömagasinet Michelin-starred restaurant is a good bet. Located in the harbor, the red wooden building used to be a warehouse for the Swedish East India Company, but today this is where you find the award-winning chefs Ulf Wagner and Gustav Trägårdh. This is absolutely the place to indulge in fish and seafood. Try Ulf Wagner’s lobster salad with crispy bacon, pistachios, pine nuts, yellow raisins, and parmesan dressing. Pure heaven! Or order a selection of pickled herring with the traditional Västerbotten hard cheese (similar in taste to parmesan). You have to eat some herring at least once when in Sweden.
