This lovely village in the hills east of Kuşadası long had an unusual name: Çirkince, which means ugly in Turkish. It was reportedly chosen by the original settlers to discourage others from following. The current, more fitting name is Turkish for "pleasant." The village is home to only 600 residents and has a quiet atmosphere with views of the surrounding farms and orchards from its restaurants.
