Rubens’s Tomb at St. Jacobskerk
The influence of the artist Rubens can be found all over Antwerp, but for those who want to see the spot where he was laid to rest, stop in at St. Jacob’s Church, just south of the University of Antwerp. Inside you’ll find numerous ornately designed chapels built over the centuries by important Antwerpen families, including Rubens’s. It’s here that he was interred, with his name inscribed on a slab in the floor and one of his final paintings hung above.
