I'm somewhat of an ice cream connoisseur. Having grown up in the state that produced Ben & Jerry's (and having actually known them as a kid), my bar has been set high since I was very young. But I search out the best in every country I visit because it is without a doubt my favorite dessert any time of day or year and no matter the weather.
So what's the best ice cream in Western Australia? Of what I tasted, without a doubt it is Simmo's. Found on both Rottnest Island and in Dunsborough, every flavor I tried from lemon sorbet to Mango Passionfruit was delicious. I can still taste them in my mouth I think just writing about the experiences.
Simmo's is not to be missed if you find yourself in Western Australia.
They do traditional flavors like chocolate and cookies and cream well, but where they really shine is in their unusual flavor combinations, particularly those with a fruit base. Be adventurous and try something you've never had before. I can't imagine you could possibly regret it.
