While in Transylvania, Romania, I snapped a picture upon entering the Sibiu citadel. Sibiu is a city that has been inhabited since 300 BC and the citadel (built in the 11th century) is still up and running in the historic center. This is a view of one of the ancient walls with ramparts used for guarding the town. Not to be missed is the shopping and food. Also notice the hundreds of stray dogs that show up in all of your pictures--a problem that Romania has been contending with since communist rule. In many ways this picture captures the Transylvanian experience perfectly---cobbled paths, ancient buildings, inquisitive dogs.
