When you land in Easo on market day, you will find a colorful buzz of activity as locals set up their stalls to sell everything from handmade crafts and imported Indonesian souvenirs to fruit, vegetables and other foodstuffs. Islanders sometimes weave bowls, baskets and hats as they wait for customers, which adds a more immediate and authentic element to the search for a souvenir. Locals at the market occasionally also perform cultural dances for ship arrivals. (Bear in mind that bargaining and tipping are not part of the country’s tradition and can cause offense.)
